Millwall were to Equal Reading's unbeaten home record of 55 games with 1-0 win over Ipswich on the 12th November 1966 and break the record with a 2-1 over Carlisle on the 26th November. In December Millwall extended the record to 59 games with wins over Bolton (10th Dec 2-0), Rotherham (17th Dec 2-0) and Norwich (26th Dec 2-1) to leave the record at played 59 Won 43, Drawn 16, Lost 0, Goals for 112, against 33.

Having won back to back promotions, Millwall had played 55 different visiting teams during this spell.

The Den had indeed been a fortress, 35 visitors had failed to score, with a spell where 8 successive clean sheets were kept.

The unbeaten run was to come to an end with a 2-1 defeat against Plymouth in front of 16,601 fans on the 14th January 1967. It was Plymouth's first away win of the season.
